Wigan Athletic boss Owen Coyle says Manchester United's appointment of David Moyes is a great boost for British coaches.
The pair meet in the Community Shield at Wembley this weekend.
"When I went from St Johnstone to Burnley almost six years ago, David was a person you would look up to. He worked really hard at the coalface at Preston, then did a magnificent job at Everton, and I said at the time I believed he could manage anywhere in world football," said Coyle.
"At that time the elite clubs in this country brought some fantastic managers in from abroad who did an outstanding job.
"Many are still here but sometimes I think there was a need to make a sexy appointment and for me it's great that Manchester United have shown there are terrific British managers out there.
"I think every coach in this country has taken a lift from that appointment. It shows there will be the rewards if you do a job as well as David has done."
