Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce hopes to wrap up the signings of Honduras pair Maynor Figueroa and Hendry Thomas this week.

Bruce flew to the United States to watch the pair help Honduras earn a 1-1 draw with Venezuela in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.

Defender Figueroa, 25, is wanted back at the JJB Stadium after featuring twice for Wigan last season while on loan from Deportivo Olimpia. Thomas, 23, also plays for Olimpia and the midfielder is keen to follow compatriot Wilson Palacios to Wigan.

The Latics boss had talks with Olimpia officials over the weekend about taking Figueroa and Thomas on loan next season with a view to permanent deals.
