Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce has sent his foreign players back to school.

South Americans Antonio Valencia and Wilson Palacios, as well as Egyptian new boy Amr Zaki, are to attend evening classes with their families to brush up on their English.

And schoolmaster Bruce is even planning to give the trio a festive exam to check on their progress.

"They have until Christmas to learn English," he said. "I have told them there will be a big fine if they don't - just in time for me to feed the kids with a big turkey!"
