Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce has ruled himself out for the Newcastle United job.

He said: "I don't think it will happen for me because I think Shearer will stay. That's my opinion.

"We're all in the shop window. I was born and bred in the North-East and turned them down four years ago, but it's something I don't even think about."
