Wigan boss Steve Bruce has ruled out Antonio Valencia making a New Year departure from The Latics. The Ecuador international Valencia is reportedly interesting Tottenham.

"When Antonio is on form, he's a real handful for any defence. You know how highly I rate him," the Latics boss told the Wigan Evening Post.

"He had a fantastic game against Blackburn - he's quick, powerful and has a goal in him too, which is good.

"I've said it a few times, that if David Bentley cost £15million, then how much is Antonio worth?

"I don't want to put valuations on anybody, and the last thing I want to do is sell people.

"We're on the verge of building a really good team and I don't want to dismantle that. We've got power, pace and energy throughout."
