Wigan boss Bruce: Little chance for English managers

Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce believes there's little chance of progress for English managers.

Bruce said: "The way things are going I don't even think an English-born manager will get the chance to be in charge of one of our big clubs. So what chance managing England? We're not going to get a bright, up-and-coming manager because some of them are not going to get a chance. I read an alarming statistic that the average lifespan of a manager in the Championship is just 13 months.

"What's happening is a young, English-born manager gets one crack at it down the leagues, loses a few games, and out he goes - finished. So how are you going get someone with all the credentials who is English to manage England?"
