Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce hopes to sign Honduras duo Maynor Figueroa and Hendry Thomas - and is also targeting Colombian talent.

"We're definitely hoping to do something with Figueroa and Thomas," The Latics' manager told the Wigan Evening Post. "Figueroa did really well with us last season and I think he benefited from being among the squad for two or three months.

"He did well enough to be brought back over here again. Hopefully we can do something with Thomas too. Everyone tells me he's a fantastic player and we've done our homework on him.

"There are some good players in Central and South America. Anyone who saw Colombia play against the Republic of Ireland last week would have been impressed - they were fantastic."
