Wigan boss Bruce delighted to secure Pollitt to new deal

Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Mike Pollitt has agreed a new one-year deal with the club.

The 36-year-old made just one Premier League appearance last season due to the form and fitness of Chris Kirkland but has been tempted to stay by manager Steve Bruce.

"Polly's a terrific goalkeeper and I'd have no hesitation in playing him in any game," said Bruce.

"He understands the situation that Chris has possession of the shirt at the minute but that can change and you need at least two good goalkeepers competing, to bring the best out in each other."
