Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce says Tottenham have bought well in former Portsmouth striker Jermain Defoe.
"He is a very good signing. I knew as soon as I saw him sign he would make his debut against us," said the manager, whose side have won their last four matches at the JJB Stadium to rise to seventh in the Barclays Premier League.
"We will do our utmost to ensure he doesn't score.
"In the FA Cup last week we were badly hammered. I am convinced we will be a different proposition on our own patch.
"We have everyone fit and that can only be a boost to everyone.
"We haven't beaten Spurs in the Premier League. Let's hope it is our turn."
