Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce has cast serious doubt on a permanent deal for Amr Zaki after their defeat to Blackburn Rovers.

Bruce said: "We can't have that many opportunities and chances on goal and not take one at this level, no matter how well Paul Robinson played.

"You don't have to be a rocket scientist to find out that that is the area in which we need to improve.

"The reason we're in the top 10 is that Amr Zaki scored 10 goals by the end of October. He hasn't scored since."
