Benni McCarthy scored his first league goal of the season for Blackburn Rovers but it was not enough to claim all three points at Wigan. The Latics levelled in the second half through Hugo Rodallega's powerful close-range header as the game opened up into an end-to-end affair.

Both teams went looking for the winner but Wigan's Jason Scotland fluffed a one-on-one with Paul Robinson and McCarthy had an overhead kick brilliantly saved by Chris Kirkland at the end.
