Wigan ace McArthur can't wait to test himself against Real Madrid's Modric

Scotland international James McArthur admits he is eagerly anticipating Tuesday night's World Cup qualifier against Croatia.

The Wigan Athletic midfielder and his Scottish teammates play their final UEFA qualifier at Hampden Park against the second-placed side in Group A and the 26-year old is looking forward to testing himself in the company of Croatia's Real Madrid star Luka Modric provided he plays.

"I would rather he did play, you want to play against all of their top players," McArthur told the Daily Record of Modric who is one booking away from a suspension.

"We all want to play in the best leagues and we want to play against the best players. They have a lot of good players and Modric is unbelievable, it would be good to play against him.

"I know he didn't play the last time but look at the players who did. They have Champions League winners throughout their team."
