Sunderland boss Roy Keane is close to clinching a £6 million agreement for Wigan Athletic left-back Leighton Baines.

The full back has been a priority for Keane throughout the close season and the clubs have agreed a fee of around £6million, which will hinder Everton's plans to make a move for him, says the Daily Mail.

Keane, in Portugal at his club's three-day training camp, hopes to have England Under 21 defender Baines in his squad for the three-game tour of the Republic of Ireland which starts on Saturday with a game against Bohemians in Dublin.
