Wigan 1-1 Liverpool: Rodallega cuts out Torres opener

Wigan Athletic have halted Liverpool’s winning streak of three by holding them to a 1-1 draw at DW Stadium.

Things looked good for the Reds when Fernando Torres, who scored both goals in Sunday’s win over Chelsea, received a long, pinpoint pass from Steven Gerrard before firing across the path of Latics keeper Ali Al-Habsi to make it 1-0 in the seventh minute.

Fortunately for Wigan, Hugo Rodallega was on hand to lash home after Pepe Reina could only parry Ronnie Stam’s shot into his path.
The Colombian accepted gratefully to make it 1-1 but it extended Wigan’s winless run to five matches, keeping them in the drop zone whilst Liverpool remained 9th.
