Connor Wickham is on the brink of agreeing a new five-year deal with Sunderland.
The Sunday Telegraph says Wickham will end the uncertainty surrounding his future and sign a long-term deal worth £60,000 a week to stay at the Stadium of Light.
The £8million signing's current contract runs out at the end of this season and he could have moved abroad in January for a fee of just £500,000.
West Ham United failed with a £4million bid in the summer for the striker while Crystal Palace have maintained an interest but Sunderland have stepped up negotiations over the past month and expect to confirm Wickham's new deal within the next few days.
