Whyte sets Friday deadline for Rangers takeover

Businessman Craig Whyte has reportedly set a deadline of Friday for his proposed takeover over of Scottish giants Rangers. The venture capitalist has been in negotiations to purchase majority shareholdings from current owner Sir David Murray for what seems like months now and has finally put his foot down for a takeover date.

Various obstacles have so far hindered the deal from being done but an insider told SunSport that Whyte wants the takeover to be completed by the end of the week.

"The deal should have been done last week. In fact, it should have been done the week before and the week before that," the insider said.

"There is only so much patience somebody can show and Craig's is running thin.

"There are other parties at work holding it up - and it is not the bank or Sir David Murray."
