Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard admits Zinedine Zidane is his hero.

Earlier this year, the former Juventus and Real Madrid ace hailed the Liverpool midfielder as the 'best player the world' and Gerrard admits he was honoured to receive such high acclaim from one of his heroes.

"Zidane is special to me," said the Reds' No.8. "I was very flattered to hear his compliments about me.

"He is one of my heroes. When I met him I was like a fan. I did everything I could to shake his hand."
