Terry Venables has apologised to Southampton legend Matthew Le Tissier for not selecting him for England.

Venables made the gesture at a Le Tissier tribute night this week.

"I want to make an apology because Le Tissier was a fantastic player and now I'm older and wiser I've realised I should probably of picked him a lot more for England," he said.

"Le Tiss has been a real credit to the game, there's no doubt about that, he was a wonderful player, who mastered the ball, he was brilliant for the game and everyone in the game loves him.

"I'm not just probably sure, I'm definitely sure I should have picked him."
