Liverpool's James Milner was the subject of boos and jeers from Manchester City supporters on Sunday.
The 31-year-old left Etihad for Anfield in 2015 after five years, more than 200 appearances, and two Premier League titles with City which has helped them become a major player in England over the past five or six seasons.
There was plenty of disbelief from Reds fans regarding City's treatment of the player, as you can see from some Twitter posts below:
Please someone enlighten me why City fans booed Milner today? Gang of halfwits.

I really don't understand City fans at all. Always question and complain when Sterling gets booed and are now planning to boo Milner.

We jeer Sterling for valid reasons. I have no idea why Milner was booed. Typical of such plastic fans. #LFC#YNWA

But some City supporters have shed some light on the reasons why Milner was targeted during the pulsating 1-1 draw.
One of the reasons why the City faithful took offence because after leaving the club, Milner once said: "I've been very fortunate to play in a lot of good teams…but as a team this (LFC) is probably the best team I've played in."
James Milner got booed tonight and rightly so. We hardly boo our former players, but the deserved it. https://t.co/E3lNeGnb1q

I don't like players being booed, current or ex, but Jimmy Milner should know better than to bad mouth a club who gave him his only success.

Sounds like Milner is getting roundly booed. Don't understand what his problem is. Deserves everything he gets today

@JamesMcManus1@xBlueMoonRising not one fan booed Milner on his return. He then started opening his mouth every other week. Google it.

Stupid article. Don't remember being this sensitive when Sterling booed at grounds and particularly Anfield. Maybe Milner should shut up? https://t.co/hAIuA6RHMl

To clarify: Milner got booed because he ran down his contract, still got respect & then someone put 50p in him and he's forever talking us

People questioning my Milner got booed. Well the fans loved him, but since he left he hasn't had a good word to say about the club.
