Why Laudrup is upset with Swansea chairman Jenkins

Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup is upset with his chairman Huw Jenkins.

The Daily Star Sunday says in an extraordinary attack, Jenkins said he was upset with the defeatist attitude of his coaches and players whenever they face the Premier League's top teams.

But Laudrup snapped back, declaring: "I think we are competitive in every game. If you see all the games, we are competitive.

"Both Liverpool and Arsenal were very tight this season - and against Tottenham we lost 1-0 through a penalty only 15 minutes from the end.

"So we've been competitive last year and now this year."

As for the idea his stars are happy to write off those fixtures in order to concentrate on beating so-called lesser clubs, Laudrup's response was equally dismissive.

The Dane said: "I don't think any of my players ever do that. We have a lot of respect for our opponents and know some of them are great teams with fantastic players.

"But apart from the Man United game, they've all been very close matches. And with a little more luck we could have got something more from them."
