COMMENT: I am still in disbelief, but it actually happened. John Terry received a new contract.
I was convinced he was not going to be offered a new contract and I cannot put into words how happy I am that I was wrong. This season may well have been beyond terrible, but we put the final nail in the Tottenham coffin and JT received his contract against the odds.
Under the circumstances, that'll do me.
What this also shows is that fan power does still exist at Chelsea after all. I genuinely thought that the board would just laugh it off from us as we are no more than mere customers to them. But finally, at long long last, the penny dropped.
JT would not have received that contract if it was not for the fans. And for all the stick we get, I don't think there are many other clubs that could convince a board as stubborn as Chelsea's to listen.
To me, John Terry is Chelsea Football Club and Chelsea Football Club is John Terry. JT is the only leader in that entire squad and I genuinely think he will be a massive part of the team next season, not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well.
It's such a relief to see my lifelong hero stay at the club I love.
