Tim Sherwood may sit out the next 12 months after his sacking by Aston Villa.

The Mail on Sunday says Sherwood was considered for the Blackburn Rovers job. Paul Lambert will take charge this week.

Former Blackburn captain Sherwood rejected the Ewood Park club's advances.

The 46-year-old didn't consider a return to his former club the right move and is still being paid by Villa with a guaranteed £2million pay-off stopped if he returns to management in the 12 months after his sacking.
