Stoke City midfielder Dean Whitehead felt their new signings both contributed to victory over Liverpool.
The 29-year-old lavished praise upon debutants Peter Crouch and Wilson Palacios, both of whom he feels played a vital part in securing the victory.
Whitehead told Stoke's website: "We know what Crouchy is capable of, and at times he showed that today. His touch is phenomenal and in the air he is very dangerous. He won the header which led to the penalty so that was vital for us.
"Wilson too, he came on and made a couple of superb challenges to break things up when Liverpool were chucking absolutely everything at us."
He added "Both of them and Cameron Jerome are superb signings for us and they will all play a massive part this season, I'm certain of that."
