Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan admits manager Chris Hutchings will be busy in the January market.

He said: "I'm absolutely right behind Chris. He has taken over from Paul Jewell and it's not an easy job for him.

"We've had some serious injuries - losing Emile Heskey has been a massive blow for us.

"We need midfielders and another striker. I would say it's inevitable that we have to sign more players in January."
