Dave Whelan says Wigan Athletic are planning to make three more signings before the start of the new season.
Latics boss Chris Hutchings took his new recruits to three on Friday, with Mario Melchiot following Antoine Sibierski and Titus Bramble through the door.
"We've started early and we've signed what I feel are three very, very good players and we've got another three signings to go," Whelan told Sky Sports News.
"We've got to have a squad. The ambition is to stabilise in this division and then move into Europe.
"It's players who Chris and John (Benson) have come up with and so far they have come up with some quality players.
"I'm encouraging them and saying let's go out and let's get Wigan Athletic recognised as being a force in the Premier League.
"You know what the football market is like, there's so many rumours going round it.
"We are looking and we are in the market big style."
