Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan says he never panicked over their poor start to the season.
The Latics are now climbing the table after victory at West Bromwich Albion.
"We always thought and we always hoped that we would turn it round, and we've deserved for it to have finally happened," Whelan told the Wigan Observer.
"Then you have what happened against Blackburn Rovers, which I have never seen anything quite like in all my years in the game, and there was a real feeling that we'd had two points taken away from us.
"How four officials could allow something like that to happen - we were so scared that those two points would prove to be vital.
"However, this win takes us off the bottom of the league, and we are definitely going in the right direction.""We've had some awful luck this season - the ball's just not been running for us, which does happen from time to time.
