Dave Whelan has assured Wigan Athletic fans he is committed to the club.

He said: "I love my involvement with the football club and care passionately about Wigan and the game.

"It felt very strange last weekend with no game to look forward to. I certainly missed it and greatly enjoy the challenge of being at this level. Long may it continue."
