Whelan admits trying to win over Stoke boss Hughes

Glenn Whelan admits he's still trying to win over Stoke City boss Mark Hughes.

As a regular in a disciplined central midfield under Tony Pulis and he is desperate for a chance to show what he can do in manager Hughes' new system.

He told The Sentinel: "It's a different manager and different roles in midfield. Whatever the manager asks we'll try to do it to the best of our ability.

"For myself it's hard because you need to get that run in the team and I haven't had that."
