Westfield W-League - Round 8 wrap

Queensland Roar reaffirmed themselves as title favourites with a commanding win over Melbourne Victory in the Westfield W-League. The Roar put the Victory away 3-1 at the Bob Jane Stadium in South Melbourne to take their lead to eight points on top of the table.

It was the usual suspect for the Roar in Courtney Beutel who scored her fifth goal for the season.

She was joined by Alicia Ferguson and Tameka Butt on the scoresheet with Brittany Timko getting one back for the Victory.

Perth glory climbed off the bottom of the table with a 1-0 victory over Sydney FC in Parramatta.

The visitors took the lead through Marianna Tabain in the 64th minute which was enough to snatch the three points and stop the Sky Blues entering the top four.

Canberra United scored an impressive away win over the Central Coast Mariners with Ellie Brush, Hayley Crawford and Caitlin Munoz doing the damage in the 3-0 win.

Newcastle Jets jumped into second spot with a 2-1 win over Adelaide United who find themselves on the bottom.

Victoria Balomenos put the Reds in front with a 19th minute penalty before Sanna Frostevall equalised ten minutes prior to half-time and then Amber Neilson won the game for the Jets nine minutes from time.
