Western Sydney Wanderers poised for new owners

An Asian and Australian consortium is close to agreeing a takeover deal for Western Sydney Wanderers, according to The Australian. Commenting on the takeover report, FFA chief executive David Gallop told The Australian on Monday: "Yesterday (the game against Wellington Phoenix) was yet another reminder of what a powerful force Western Sydney Wanderers have become in western Sydney and in Australian sport. But there is no imminent sale of the club."

However, the FFA is said to be keen to offload its interest in the Wanderers in a bid to end any accusations of a conflict of interest.

Gallop added: "We are continuing to look at the opportunities in regards to the sale of the club but there is no urgency."
