Western Sydney is expected to be announced as the 12th A-League club sometime this week. After nine months of deliberations, Football Federation Australia will almost certainly announce that Western Sydney have beaten bids from Tasmania, Wollongong, Canberra and three other west Sydney groups.
Western Sydney will enter the A-League in 2010/11, joining a second Melbourne team and will be run by Ian Rowden, a former Australian youth international who was involved in the failed bid of colourful businessman Joe Meissner and early reports indicate that the club will cost about $8million a season to run.
