Western Sydney's Polenz open to Germany return

Western Sydney Wanderers defender Jerome Polenz admits he would consider a return to Germany.

The 27-year old German has been a star for the A-League club, making close to 50 appearances over two seasons since his move from Union Berlin in 2012.

However, Polenz told transfermarkt.de that he could be persuaded to head back to his homeland if the right deal came his way.

"For Germany, there are requests and if it fits, and for me is a good perspective, one option is, of course," said the former Werder Bremen and Alemannia Aachen man.

Polenz was a part of the Wanderers side that lost the A-League Grand Final 2-1 to Brisbane Roar on Sunday in excruciating circumstances after they took the lead.

Matthew Spiranovic scored for Western Sydney in the 56th minute before Besart Berisha levelled in the 86th minute and Henrique scored an injury-time winner to give the Roar their second title in three seasons.

Polenz had come up against fellow German Thomas Broich - this season's A-League Player of the Year - and admitted that the ex-Borussia Monchengladbach and FC Cologne midfielder.

"He plays very well when he has plenty of room and space and he does not get from me," Polenz said of Broich.

"Thomas has only recently told me how much he hates to play against me."
