West Ham's Pantsil cleared of serious injury

West Ham United fullback John Pantsil has avoided serious injury while on African Nations Cup duty with Ghana.

The right-back was carried off on a stretcher following the 2-1 win against Guinea on Sunday night that saw the 2008 African Cup of Nations hosts get their campaign off to a winning start. Pantsil had suffered a head injury during the game but continued until the final whistle before complaining of dizziness and being taken to hospital. Ghana team doctor Martin Engmann said: "He is fine and fully conscious."

The fullback was back in training with his Ghana teammates yesterday.
