West Ham winger Jarvis knows he must improve scoring record

West Ham United winger Matt Jarvis wants to improve his goalscoring record.

The former Wolves winger realises his priority is to keep pounding down that touchline before sending over a stream of crosses but admits he needs to finish as well as supply.

"My role is to create chances for others and try to score a few goals myself," he said. "I enjoy what I do, which is trying to get to the byline and then cut back those crosses. It's what I've been doing all my career and when someone scores from one of those crosses and I get that assist, I feel a great sense of achievement.

"I've always wanted to improve my scoring ratio, though, and the way the manager sets us up, I need to be in a position to score, just as Joe Cole did against Queens Park Rangers [last Saturday]."
