West Ham winger Downing says they must hold their nerve over form slide

West Ham United winger Stewart Downing says they must keep their nerve as they battle to arrest a form slide.

West Ham play host to a Fulham team on the same number of points and equally desperate to climb away from the bottom of the Premier League table.

"We have to start scoring some goals," Downing told the London Evening Standard. "We need to start taking some of those chances and not let the nerves creep in. If the crowd become restless, it's important we keep going - keep doing what we are best at.

"We all have to start chipping in. You can't just rely on one striker - even the top clubs don't do that - myself, Matt Jarvis and Joe Cole - we all have to chip in with some goals.

"I believe West Ham won a lot of games without Andy Carroll last season so until he comes back, it's up to us. We know we can do it, we went to Tottenham and won 3-0 and we beat Cardiff 2-0 at home."
