West Ham United winger Stewart Downing is backing Andy Carroll to make England's World Cup squad.
England boss Roy Hodgson has ignored the West Ham striker since his return from injury in January and he is yet to hit full fitness.
Downing said: "He knows that Roy Hodgson is a big fan of his and I think if he stays fit, even if he didn't score between now and the end of the season, I still think he is a big threat for England and I think he will probably take him.
"That is my own opinion. I just think he needs to keep playing well and take his good form into the World Cup.
"Personally I think playing regularly for him is a big thing - he has been out a long time.
"I think he should just look at playing as many games as he can and getting goals."
