West Ham United are waiting for a response from Olympique Marseille after their bid for Dimitri Payet.
The Daily Mail says the Hammers made an improved offer of £12million for the 28-year-old last week with the French club overhauling their squad, with several big name departures.
Payet and team-mates will take an automatic wage drop as the club failed to qualify for the Champions League with Payet facing a loss of around £12,000 a week.
Payet has a good relationship with Marseille manager Marcelo Bielsa who wants him to stay and has asked the club to re-negotiate his contract.
But a move to the Premier League has increasing appeal for financial and sporting reasons with the east London side reportedly offering a four-year deal worth around £70,000 a week.
