West Ham United are expected to step up their interest in Sporting Gijon defender Alberto Botia next week.
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is keen on Botia, who is regarded among Spain's brightest young defensive talents.
Barcelona have a buy-back option on Botia, which expires on Sunday, and aren't expected to take it up - so allowing the Hammers to freely negotiate a fee with Sporting for the youngster next week.
