West Ham United extended Newcastle United's winless beginning to the season with a 2-0 result at Upton Park on Monday night.
Slaven Bilic's Hammers scored their first home win of the new Premier League campaign thanks to a fine double from summer signing Dimitri Payet.
The French attacking midfielder produced a well-placed curling effort into Tim Krul's top left corner from Mark Noble's cut-back pass in the ninth minute before adding a second three minutes into the second half when coolly side-footing home after Victor Moses' attempt had deflected back off the crossbar.
The victory was West Ham's third of the season which has them placed fifth on the table while Steve McClaren's Toon occupy bottom position having secured just two points in their opening five matches.

QUOTES CORNER
Newcastle boss McClaren on his side's shortened preparations due to London traffic:
"We can make excuses and say the preparation wasn't ideal, but it's no excuse. You don't like going through nights like tonight, it's painful, but sometimes you have to."
West Ham's Bilic on the rightful victory:
"We fully deserved the three points, we were better from the start and we scored at the right time.
"It's small proof that we really did well in the transfer window. “
