Porto are pushing to beat Crystal Palace to the signing of West Ham midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate.

Kouyate is locked in a tug-of-war between Crystal Palace and Porto, says the Mirror.

Palace believe the Senegal international midfielder wants to head to Selhurst Park for £10million - but boss Roy Hodgson is being forced to play a waiting game.

That's because Kouyate is being offered to the Portuguese champions as part of the Hammers ' bid to sign their striker Moussa Marega.

Hodgson is desperate to bolster his engine room after losing Yohan Cabaye on a free transfer this summer.
