John Carver could be snapped up by West Ham from under the noses of Newcastle United.

The Geordie coach is back in England after leaving MLS outfit Toronto FC and is a target for Toon manager Alan Shearer.

But he is also wanted by the Hammers for their backroom team and confusion at the Toon could lead Carver south.
