West Ham United are believed to be showing significant interest in FC Porto's Silvestre Varela.

The Hammers are still searching for another quality marksman to pair with summer signing Andy Carroll and it is reported that they could make a move for the 28-year old.

The Daily Mail suggests that Turkish club Besiktas failed with a bid close to £5m suggesting that the Hammers would have to better that to even be a chance.

However, Varela welcomed the Upton Park interest: "To be linked with a club who value me is a good sign. It is pleasing to hear that."
