Middlesbrough looked to have offloaded one of their highest earners as midfielder Gary O'Neill appears to have swapped English Championship football for the Premiership surrounds of West Ham. According to Sky Sports O'Neil, who can play in central midfield or wide on the right, is believed to have agreed a two-and-a-half year deal to move to Upton Park and help the Hammers fight against relegation.
The likes of Wolves, Stoke and Blackburn have all been credited with an interest in O'Neil, but it appears Hammers boss Avram Grant has moved first to land the 27-year-old.
Grant feels they need new faces this month if they are to avoid the drop.
