West Ham United expect to complete the signing of Eidur Gudjohnsen within the next 24 hours, reports the Daily Mail. The Hammers have agreed terms with the 31-year-old Iceland striker after Monaco cleared him to join Gianfranco Zola's side on a free transfer.

Gudjohnsen was approached by a number of English clubs last summer when Barcelona decided to cash in on the versatile player, but he eventually decided to join Monaco.

However, after starting just six games in the French League - and without scoring in 11 appearances in all competitions - he is leaving Monaco for a return to London.
