West Ham United striker Carlton Cole rejected a move to Stoke City over wages, it has been revealed.

The Mirror says Cole turned his back on a move to Stoke after the club wouldn't offer him the same wages as striker Kenwyne Jones.

Jones is reported to be on £45,000 a week - but City refused to pay West Ham's Cole more than £40,000, claiming they had a strict salary cap in place.

Cole has also been linked with Newcastle United.
