West Ham striker Cole: Parker was absolute inspiration

West Ham United striker Carlton Cole hailed Scott Parker after their 3-3 comeback at West Bromwich Albion.

Cole says Parker was inspirational on and off the pitch during the six goal thriller.

The striker told whufc.com: "I have got to say our captain today, Scotty Parker, at half-time was just inspirational in the changing room. I told him when I came off the pitch, I went up to him and said 'You have given me so much motivation'.

"He was just in the zone, I have never seen him like that. I was like 'Wow, this is the real deal'. I know that we are professional footballers, we should have that in us already and we do, but sometimes you need your captain to come across like that.

"It was inspirational I must say. If you were in there, you would have had a tear in your eye, I had a tear in my eye.

"He gave a lot. He showed a lot of passion in that changing room, it spurred us on in the second half. We came out determined that we weren't going to disappoint anyone, the manager, ourselves, the fans and our families, everyone with us here who works with us and supports us.

"That was for the fans. They had travelled all the way up here to support us and it wasn't enough or what we wanted for them in the first half - because it was really, really poor."
