West Ham step up interest in Arsenal striker Giroud

West Ham United is in pursuit of Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, according to Sky Sports.

The Hammers are desperately searching for a striker after Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho missed a large portion of last season through injury.

The France international scored 16 league goals for the Gunners last season but spent the majority of his time on the bench; a situation he has publicly insisted will not happen for him again next season.

Despite signing a new two-year deal in January, Giroud is aiming to be included in France's squad for next year's World Cup and needs to be playing to assure his spot in an incredibly deep Les Blues squad.

The 30-year old joined Arsenal from Montpellier in 2012 and has gone to score 98 goals in 226 appearances for the club.
