West Ham star Payet furious with Deschamps but living dream in England

Dimitri Payet has hit out at France national team boss Didier Deschamps.

The West Ham United star believes he has been harshly treated by Les Bleus coach as he has been kept out if international reckoning since featuring in a friendly with Albania in June.

Payet was overlooked for recent matches against Armenia and Denmark despite scoring four goals and providing three assists in his first eight Premier League outings for the Hammers, something he admits has not sat well with him.

"I feel feel like an injustice, yes. For more than a year I am at the best level of my career even if I can still get better," the 15-time international told L'Equipe.

"Therefore for me, it is unjust for me not to be in the French team.

"Whose fault is it? A bit of mine because I am not doing what they want of me but there is maybe something else. What? I don't know. I hear rumours that I am frowned upon. You have to take me as I am.

"If you ask all my coaches, I don't think they are going to say to you: 'Dimitri, he is an idiot'.

"The thing that I cannot accept is the injustice."

But Payet admitted his non-selection will not stop him from producing his best displays at club level.

"I do not understand what they expect from me. But not to be called up to the France team will not stop me from living," the former Marseille star added.

"Even if I think about it, I am not on my knees in front of my TV waiting for a call-up.

"I am living a dream now in England. The national team, if it makes me unhappy, I don't want it."
