West Ham & Sporting CP make up; William Carvalho deal back on the table

West Ham could be set to reignite their interest in midfielder William Carvalho after resolving their differences with Sporting Lisbon.

The Hammers failed to sign the Euro 2016 winner during the summer transfer window and this created a war of words between the two clubs.

The east London club claimed to have made a bid for the player while Sporting's club president Bruno de Carvalho claimed that no bid was made that the Hammers lied.

West Ham considered the suggestions to be libellous and released emails showing their offer.

A West Ham statement said: "West Ham and Sporting Clube de Portugal acknowledge that a breakdown in communication based in contacts between representatives from both clubs in respect of a possible transfer of William Carvalho was the cause of a misunderstanding.

"Subsequent to this, the clubs have had positive communications and the matter is now resolved.

"On this basis, friendly relations between the clubs will resume and there will be no barriers to both clubs negotiating or working together in the future."
