West Ham scoff at Senegalese ban push for Sakho

West Ham United are confident Diafra Sakho will avoid any FIFA suspension for missing the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Senegalese FA are demanding Sakho be banned from playing for West Ham until the end of the tournament after he pulled out of the squad citing a back injury.

The striker struck the winner on Sunday against FA Cup opponents Bristol City.

Senegal fans also want West Ham thrown out of the FA Cup but the Upton Park club are adamant they have done nothing wrong and they followed correct procedures, reports the London Evening Standard.

The Hammers insist they kept the Senegalese FA informed at all times and that they invited their medical staff to assess the player - an invitation which was not accepted.
